TOTAL COLIFORM BACTERIA SAMPLING

NOTE: The Coliform Bacteria sample is to be collected in a small, plastic container provided by Aqualogic. This is a STERILE container. DO NOT TOUCH the inside of the bottle or cap. Maintain sterility.

Sample is to be taken from the kitchen faucet if possible. (Note: If the spray mechanism is an integral part of the faucet, do not take sample from this faucet and proceed to another faucet which does not have this attachment. Take sample from a non-leaking faucet).

Unscrew and remove faucet attachments (aerator, threaded strainer, etc.). Confirm that the plastic washer is also removed. If your faucet is made of METAL, disinfect the perimeter of the faucet with a flame for approximately 20 seconds. Warning: Do not use a flame if your faucet is not made of metal. If preferred, or if your faucet is made of PLASTIC, or if washer cannot be removed, rubbing alcohol or a small amount of bleach with water may be used instead of a flame. Submerge end of faucet into solution and “swish” for about five minutes. If any of the above mentioned chemicals are used for disinfection, rinse the affected area thoroughly of chemical prior to sample collection.

Run the COLD water tap for approximately five minutes. Note: If house has been vacant, run water for hours or until clear before sampling. Open the sterile sample collection bottle utilizing the protruding locking tab by lifting upward or by using the integral bracket on the bottle.

Do not rinse the sample container and do not allow bottle to touch faucet. Fill the sample collection bottle above the “100 ml” line leaving a slight air gap between the water surface and bottle cap.

Cap bottle and secure with locking tab. Return sample to Aqualogic within six hours after collection or if necessary, refrigerate up to 24 hours. Do not allow sample to get warm or freeze.

Note: Writing on bottle cap is optional and not required. Please do not use heavy black markers.

Fill out the Chain of Custody form provided with your sample containers and return your sample(s) with this form. Please be sure to fill Chain of Custody Form out completely.

CHEMICAL SAMPLING:

NOTE: The Chemical sample is to be collected in a one liter or quart size, plastic container provided by Aqualogic. Chemical sample (plastic) bottle may be supplied by customer providing it is clean and rinsed with sample water prior to sample collection. A sterile container is not required and faucet disinfection is not required. Sample may be taken from any cold water tap, however the kitchen tap is preferred. Note: Allow water to run for approximately five minutes prior to taking sample. If house has been vacant, run water for hours or until clear before sampling.

C. LEAD SAMPLING:

NOTE: The Lead sample is to be collected in a one liter or quart size, plastic container provided by Aqualogic. Lead sample (plastic) bottle may be supplied by customer providing it is clean. A sterile container is not required and faucet disinfection is not required. Sample may be taken from any cold water tap, however the kitchen tap is preferred.

SAMPLE IS TO BE TAKEN FROM A COLD WATER TAP WHICH HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR AT LEAST 6 HOURS (FIRST DRAW).

Fill out the Chain of Custody form provided with your sample containers and return your sample(s) with this form. Please be sure to fill Chain of Custody Form out completely.
